Salary to hourly calculator: $X a year is how much an hour?

Divide a yearly salary by 2,080 working hours (40 a week × 52) to get the hourly rate. $60,000 a year is $28.85 an hour, $5,000 a month and $2,308 every two weeks before taxes — about $50,390 a year after federal tax and FICA where there is no state income tax.

401(k) lowers income tax but not Social Security/Medicare. Health premiums and HSA through a cafeteria plan lower both.

Frequently asked

How do I convert salary to hourly?

Divide the annual salary by the hours you work in a year. Full time is 2,080 hours (40 × 52), so $52,000 ÷ 2,080 = $25.00 an hour. If you get two weeks unpaid, divide by 2,000 instead.

Why is bi-weekly not the same as twice a month?

Bi-weekly means every two weeks — 26 paychecks a year. Semi-monthly means twice a month — 24 paychecks. On a $60,000 salary that is $2,307.69 versus $2,500 per check.
