What to put on an invoice
- Your business name and contact details, the client's name, a unique invoice number and the date.
- Each item with quantity and rate, the subtotal, any tax (sales tax / VAT / GST where you are registered) and the total due.
- Payment terms (Net 15/30) and how to pay — bank details, PayPal, UPI.
- US contractors: no tax is added unless you sell taxable goods; clients paying you $600+ in a year will issue a 1099-NEC.
